Star Spangled Hobens

We love 4th of July in this house, so we try to do as much celebrating as we can possibly squeeze into one weekend. This year we only had half the wee Hobens to celebrate with, but we did our best.

There's more than two tools in this picture...

Mommy whipped up some red, white, and blue spaghetti and meatballs for the occasion.

And there was a special giant 4th of July cupcake to boot!

When we cut it open, it had a nice red, white, and blue surprise for us:-)

Happy hour

Our lil' sparklers with sparklers

Daddy put on a small but impressive fireworks show out front, which we were mesmerized by.

Hooray for staying up past our bedtime to watch stuff explode!

Our neighbors had some pretty good firework shows of their own. Here we are oohing and ahhing.

And the next day we got up and got all patriotic all over again to cheer on the US women's soccer time to victory. 'MERICA!!

A Berry Good Day

Early June brought one of our most favorite annual traditions: STRAWBERRY PICKING!!

Whose idea was it to let the 2 year old drive?

This year's Kentucky Strawberry Princess 2015

We found some really funny looking strawberries this year:

There was the 4-leaf strawberry (found by none other than Brendan, which was fitting because, oddly enough, he has found more 4 leaf clovers in his 16 years than most people find in a lifetime)

And then there was Ginormaberry!!

Liam did more sampling than picking, of course

No, no, no, Liam, we said pick STRAWBERRIES not STRAW!!

In the zone

This might look like Daddy is showing Rylee how to pick, but it's really the other way around

Moo.

The Motherload.

And then I introduced my childhood favorite to those adventurous enough to try it: strawberries dipped in sour cream and brown sugar. We have a few fans in the house.
